About Us
Property Data was established by Mark Pickering in 1991. Operating from offices in South Molton Street, W1 the company initially published directories on commercial property investors, developers and housebuilders. In 1999 Mark relocated to Eccleshall in Staffordshire and an online data division was launched, in partnership with Chris Bullock. Internet titles covering UK commercial investment, development and retail property were subsequently launched.
In 2001 the company created a league table recording the total value of investment deals carried out by the leading surveying firms. To ensure their position was correctly reflected in the table, agents began to submit their deals, importantly this included many that had not previously appeared in the public domain. During the last nine years Property Data's investment service has become the acknowledged market leader in UK commercial investment transaction capture. This transaction data has been uniquely coded allowing a completely new analysis of the UK investment market.
Property Data's research on transaction volumes and capital flows is now relied upon by all sections of the commercial property investment industry and regularly appears in the Estates Gazette and Property Week, and on Bloomberg and Reuters.
In November 2007 Property Data signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Real Capital Analytics Inc. to supply UK commercial investment transactions to a new global database.
In January 2010 Property Data launched a new information service providing daily and historic pricing data, supplied by Tullett Prebon, on the property derivatives market.
Property Data are members of the Data Publishers Association. Mark and Chris are members of the Society of Property Researchers. Mark is also a member of the Investment Property Forum.
